Pleasant surprises seem to crop up quite often this year when it comes to local independent music, and this latest pleasant surprise comes in the form of the mysteriously named iamslacker whose (probable) real name is Azfar Abu Bakar, as can be seen on his Soundcloud page. A bedroom musician armed with the usual arsenal of acoustic guitars, beats and synths and multiple keyboard sounds, his songs range from electronic soundscapes with murky vocals (especially on the Androids set of songs) up to more relatively conventional (and therefore more accessible) songwriting on the Organics set. Sounds very promising to these ears! Check out the songs below.
