For those who missed out on KLEX 2016 or have yet to fully satisfy their thirst for experimental acts, the Malaysian leg of the Asian Meeting Festival (AMF) will be happening this Saturday, December 10, at Live Fact, Kuala Lumpur. After seeing two sold-out shows during last year’s AMF in Tokyo and Kyoto last year, the organisers have extended its programmes to cities outside Japan.

Asian Meeting Festival is a project by Asian Music Network, a project initiated by Otomo Yoshihide in order to try and identify key figures in cutting-edge Southeast Asian music, regardless of genre boundaries. 2016 marks the third year of the festival, having been initiated in 2014. The Kuala Lumpur leg of this year’s Asian Meeting Festival is organised by Asian Music Network in conjunction with KLEX, with assistance from Japan Foundation Asia Center.

Malaysian audiences will be able to witness an amazing line-up of 16 individuals from Japan and South East Asia all under one roof. Prepare to experience the sonic landscapes and noise from the likes of Japanese guitarist Jojo Hiroshige (best known for his work in pioneering noise group, Hijokaidan), Indonesia’s Senyawa and American violinist C. Spencer Yeh (who has recorded as Burning Star Core).

The festival will feature performances from Atsusi Arakawa (Koriyama); Junji Hirose (Tokyo); Jojo Hiroshige (Tokyo); Sudarshan Chandra Kumar (Kuala Lumpur); Yong Yandsen (Kuala Lumpur), Kok Siew Wai (Kuala Lumpur), Takashi Makino (Yokohama); An Murazato (Omuta); Otomo Yoshihide (Tokyo); Senyawa (Yogyakarta); Dharma (Singapore); Tara Transitory (Chiang Mai); Vivian Wang (Singapore); C. Spencer Yeh (New York) and Yuen Chee Wai (Singapore), in various configurations (solo, duo and ensemble).

Tickets are available on a presale basis and will also be available at the door. Book your tickets now by hitting Live Fact up at livefactkl@gmail.com or head on over to the event page for additional details.
