It’s a little more difficult to sift through the internet for new music these days, with most of my feed filled with a lot more stress inducing content. It felt like finding an oasis when I stumbled upon this post by Lamunai Records, a Jakarta based independent record label and shop.
Lamunai Records have been re-releasing some old Indonesian greats, and seem to be hitting the right notes with newer releases. Their latest is this single by Bandung based dub / experimental band, Rub of Rub. ‘Oriental Eksotik’ is a slow dub number with vocalist Rizwan Sukarna nonchalantly half whispers.
The band released an EP in 2018 titled “Ruang Waktu”, that is worth checking out as well.
