Official Music Video: monoloQue – Den.Dam

Directed by Emir Ezwan, the much-anticipated music video for monoloQue’s first single ‘Den.Dam’ off their upcoming second album created a great buzz since it was released this week.

monoloQue’s unique sound has been extensively described as a powerful vocal style masterfully united with music that is a fusion of classic ‘nusantara’ elements blended with modern rock; a far leap away from the upbeat and recycled indie of today. Granted, not everyone could get into the new sound as compared to the preceding rock outfit, Butterfingers, but those that loved it, really loved it.

Fans of darker and slow brooding music of ‘Den.Dam’ will enjoy the video as some of that darkness gets manifested in the visuals. The video centered on the struggle against oneself, battling evil desires, powers of anger and insatiable imagination hosted inside one’s own existence, but there’s also playfulness at work here that we really love specifically when observing Loque’s quirky “silat” moves as an extension of the video – striking a chord of that scene in Napoleon Dynamite with a mix of Thom Yorke’s spastic dancing in Lotus Flower; overall it is quite catchy and rich in emotional variety.
