Breakcore’s not dead. Well, it kind of is, but don’t tell Surabaya breakcore unit TamaT. The duo—erirukmanajahat and nekromagikk—have released a new four-track EP, Pesona Lidah Kulon, which sounds like it’s straight out of the late ’90s and early 2000s heyday of labels like Digital Hardcore Records and D-Trash Records.
Expect mangled breakbeats, rapid-fire distorted kick drums, and black metal riffing, all chucked into a blender alongside voice samples from various “absurd moments scattered across social media”. This is fun, pulse-pounding stuff, the way it used to be done.
Pesona Lidah Kulon is scheduled to come out on tape via Greedy Dust Records.
