Streaming app TIDAL is in hot waters once again. A follow up to their 2018 scandal of alleged ‘fake streams’ that was surfaced by Norwegian financial newspaper Dagens Næringsliv (DN). The newspaper reported that it had obtained a hard drive belonging to TIDAL, showing proof that they have grossly manipulated play counts for two of their major releases, Beyonce’s “Lemonade” and Kanye West’s “The Life Of Pablo”.
It was also reported by Music Business Worldwide that in 2019, the Norwegian authorities, the Økokrim (Norwegian equivalent of the FBI) launched an investigation on the ‘fake streams’ on TIDAL.
