Subang Jaya-based dream pop/shoegaze quartet Islands have recently self-released a new single, “2020”.
According to their Bandcamp, “2020.” is a song about issues facing “the current generation”, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Vocalist Iezlan recorded “2020” in his bedroom during the second Malaysian lockdown, which aptly fits the song’s theme. Former Pastel Lite duo Faliq Mohd and Eff Hakim helped produce the song.
“2020.” is Islands’ first release since DIY Tape, a compilation of demos and B-sides, came out back in November 2020. The band is currently recording material for their upcoming full length.
