Multi-talented Yogyakarta-based artist Gardika Gigih has quite a repertoire. Over the years, he’s put his talents to use composing for concerts and film, collaborating with fellow musicians, and conducting “soundscape research”.
Gardika’s latest release “Grain”, is one such collaboration, this time with Argentinian/Brazilian performer Inês Terra on vocals.
The short four-track EP weaves together Terra’s ethereal vocalisations with field recordings of water and seashells from Japan and Nusa Tenggara Timur (respectively) and acoustic instruments such as Balinese bamboo flute and acoustic guitar. Beautiful stuff.
