Three Track Tuesday #3 – Unfamiliar and Strange South East Asia

We’re big on music diversity and truth be told, we’re using the word ‘strange’ very loosely here, just so we could feature the following 3 tracks from South East Asia together (without being to concerned about genre specifications). Of course we could go full on ‘strange’ and feature experimental artists and field recordings, but we’re saving that for later.

The Venopian Solitude – Mahar

Since her debut full length release, ‘Hikayat Perawan Majnun’, The Venopian Solitude’s infectious and quirky songwriting and arrangement style has managed to capture the hearts of many. The second track from her 2014 release, ‘Mahar’, further anchors her experimental pop style that many have learned to appreciate. We hope she goes on a national tour soon.

Bin Idris – Rebahan

Apart from fronting the intense Bandung based psych-rock outfit, Sigmun, Haikal Azizi has been actively working on his solo project, Bin Idris, that explores a stripped down and quieter side of his music.

More on Bin Idris here.

|_/-|_/ – Jaiyen

Started out as a jam / improv band, |_/-|_/ (LALA) mixes the right amount of psychedelia into their sound to keep it interesting yet accessible enough to listen to.
